Anaheim Ballet is the recipient of Arts Orange County's 2008 Outstanding Arts Organization. The award was presented September 24th at the Balboa Bay Club in Newport Beach at the Ninth Annual Orange County Arts Awards, celebrating the outstanding achievements of the county's creative community for 2007-2008. Previous winners include Bower's Museum and South Coast Repertory.
Anaheim Ballet was recognized for its continued presentation of excellent arts programming, extensive community service throughout Anaheim and Southern California at large, and the visionary creation of the world's first weekly ballet video podcast reaching more than seven million viewers globally. Anaheim Ballet Director Lawrence Rosenberg stated, "We're honored by this award and it only serves to spur us on to continue our service to the community."
Fellow Anaheim arts organization, the Muzeo, received the Outstanding Contribution to the Built Environment 2007-2008 award.
Arts Orange County (Arts OC) was established in 1995 as the nonprofit, countywide arts council of Orange County, California. It serves as a resource and advocate for the arts community, as a catalyst for leadership on arts issues, and as a sponsor of programs and services which enhance public awareness of arts activities and promote the development of the arts and arts education in Orange County. The arts council is primarily supported through private contributions. It serves as the state-local partner with the California Arts Council and is the official local arts agency of the County of Orange.
